If you are trying to sell your home, you may wonder what you can do to make potential buyers take notice when they pass by the house. If so, use one or more of the following tips for improving your home's curb appeal while you are trying to sell it.

Give Your Windows a Uniformed Look

Go outside, and stand in your yard so you can clearly see the entire front of your home. Look at the windows, paying particular attention to the window treatments. Do they have the same style and color, giving them a uniformed appearance? Or, does every window have a different color, design, and shape?

While having different window treatments may define your individual style in each room, you should change them so they are all the same. Having the windows the same color gives your home a neat and tidy appearance. If you do not want to take down your curtains, hang white back panels that will show through the windows to passersby on the street.

Even Out the Bushes Around Your House

While you are still looking at your home, turn your attention to the bushes around your house. Do you keep them nicely trimmed and even? Or, do you prefer a wilder, more natural look, letting them grow as they wish?

While the natural growth of bushes may appeal to you personally, the wild growth may detract potential buyers from seeing the outside of the home. This is especially true if they are large enough to cover parts of the exterior. Before trying to sell your house, trim the bushes so they are either evenly square or rounded. Also, put them at a height that does not cover parts of the doors and windows.

Add a Splash of Color with Seasonal Wreath

The front door of your house serves as a focal point since it is the entryway into your house. Because of this, make it more inviting by adding a splash of color with a seasonal wreath.

In the springtime, you could arrange fresh flowers in a bare grapevine wreath, hanging a small welcome sign on the bottom. Or, if you are trying to sell your home in December, evergreen boughs with a bright red bow and berries to give your door a festive holiday look.

Although subtle, the above changes can give you home an instant facelift that could help it to stand out from the other homes for sale in the area.
